The Atlantic Club Casino

Philadelphia Post/Aperture Pictures and Post recently completed a series of three spots kicking off a broadcast campaign for the new Atlantic Club Casino.  Produced by John Anthony of Philadelphia Post and directed and photographed by Christopher Landy of Aperture Pictures, the spots are simple, single-shot takes highlighting our spokeswoman as she sings the praises of the revitalized and upgraded casino. Photographed with an Arri Alexa and posted with Final Cut Pro. Compositing with Mocha and AfterEffects. Color grading with DaVinci Resolve.

 

 

 

 

Rwanda Healing Project

In March 2007, I traveled with artist Lily Yeh to the beautiful, African country of Rwanda.  For three years, Lily had been working to design and construct a memorial in Rugerero, Rwanda to honor those who had been killed in the 1994 genocide.  She designed a living space of mosaic, garden and peace for not only the deceased, whose remains would be interred in the vault, but for those who had survived the horror that had lasted 100 days and took the lives of over 800,000 people.  In association with Barefoot Artists, and the members of the survivors' village in Rugerero, a film was produced to celebrate the dedication of the monument on 6 April 2007.  This film has been used for education and to fundraise for the people of the village.  On 7 April, the date the slaughter began, please take a moment to think of those whose lives were brutally extinguished, and of those whose lives were tragically changed forever. Philadelphia Post/Aperture Pictures produce spots for EFK Group/LECOM

In October, Philadelphia Post's John Anthony was contacted by EFK Group to produce two spots for their client, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Working in close collaboration with Philly Post, Christopher Landy of Aperture Pictures produced, directed and photographed the spots on location at the college's campus in Erie, PA.  The two spots, “Brain” and “Miracles,” were completed at Philadelphia Post with editorial and color grading by Christopher Landy, sound design and mixing by John Baker.

 

 

Aperture Pictures donates resources to PCAR/NSVRC

On 14/15 September 2011, Aperture Pictures and Post traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to help out at the the National Sexual Assault Conference co-sponsored by PCAR(Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape) and the NSVRC(National Sexual Violence Resource Center).

Filming proceeded throughout the two days on a number of educational, multimedia projects being launched by PCAR/NSVRC.

Hero's Corner: Volunteers recorded narratives about heros in the battle to end sexual violence, from survivors, to mentors in the field of anti-sexual assault advocacy to policy makers.

Inside the Advocate's Studio: NSVRC launched the Inside the Advocate's Studio multimedia project to illuminate the specialized craft of anti-sexual violence advocacy. Advocates from around the globe were invited to participate in the filming at the National Sexual Assault Conference, submit their own videos via YouTube and fill out the online survey. www.nsvrc.org/projects/advocates-studio

Prevention Podcasts:  The NSVRC filmed educational podcasts about innovative sexual violence prevention approaches that will be availble in fall 2011 www.nsvrc.org

Neurobiology of Trauma: The NSVRC filmed educational podcasts that will be included in an online learning module on the Neurobiology of Trauma that will be launched in Fall 2011.

Segments were recorded using the Panasonic HPX-3700 shooting against green screen.  Approprate backgrounds for each segment will be composited in post.

Producer's Guild Camera Assessment Event

On May 17th, 2011, The PGA East will host a Camera Assessment and Format Comparison event at Blue. A number of cameras, and their native codecs, were tested to illustrate imaging, green screen acquisition and depth-of-field. Aperture tested its HPX-3700 with and without the P+S Technik Pro35 adapter for the depth-of-field tests. Out of the box, the 3700 has easily a 9 stop range and a colorimetry and tonality very close to that of film. Also tested was Aperture's HPX-170, with and without a Letus Elite for the depth-of-field tests. Hats off to Kevin Ritchie for producing and editing the promo video and Jill Kaiser for organizing the event. Aperture Grades for FreshFly & Accordion

Christopher Landy of Aperture Pictures and Post was recently tapped by the talented teams at FreshFly and Accordion to color grade a series of commercials they produced for the American Heritage Federal Credit Union. Directed by Sean Maher, with creative direction by Jim McGorman of Accordion, the spots, “Hand Forged” and “Hand Sewn,” follow craftspeople working together as they create logos for the credit union. Photography was handled by award-winning Director of Photography Barry Markowitz with additional photography by FreshFly's Phil Bradshaw. The spots are currently airing.

Aperture Pictures and Post has added a set of newly serviced Zeiss Super Speed Primes to their imaging arsenal. Combine the speed and beauty of the Zeiss Super Speeds with Aperture's Panasonic HPX-3700 Varicam or the economical Panasonic AF-100 for superlative photography.  Available for rental, the Zeiss lenses are compatible with any PL mount camera. Serviced by Arri's top lens tech, Alex Leonzi, these lenses are in top form and meet every one of Arri's specs. The set includes 18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm T1.3 lenses.

 

Red Tettemer + Partners wins Silver ADDY® with PIFA Journey

On March 10, 2011, Red Tettemer + Partners were awarded a Silver ADDY® for their production of “The Journey” with photographer JJ Tiziou.  “The Journey” is a series of short documentaries commissioned by the Kimmel Center for their Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts.  Produced in collaboration with the Kimmel Center and directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Glenn Holsten and photographed by Christopher Landy of Aperture Pictures and Post, “The Journey” segments follow a number of artists through their artistic process.  Each journey can be found here www.pifa.org/journey

Idea Lab Viewbook Design Wins Gold

In the Spring of 2010, Idea Lab, a Moorestown, NJ based graphic design and marketing communications company, hired Christopher Landy of Aperture Pictures and Post to photograph students and scenics at Camden County College's Blackwood, NJ campus.

Idea Lab Marketing won the Gold award in the Search Piece category of the 2011 Educational Advertising Awards for “Is CCC For Me?” Viewbook design for client, Camden County College.

The Twenty-Sixth Annual Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, over 2,500 entries were received from more than one thousand colleges, universities and secondary schools from all fifty states and several foreign countries.

Aperture Produces/Directs for M and Time Warner

In September, the agency M hired Christopher Landy of Aperture Pictures and Post to produce and direct two spots for Time Warner's mobile internet services and “Intelligo” mobile hotspot product.  The images for the spots were captured using both the Panasonic HPX-3700 Varicam and a Nikon D3 SLR.  Shot at Garaj Studios against green, the final composites were handled by AfterEffects artist Lauren Mandillian for the "Where Will It Take You” spot, and by Aperture for the “Life In Motion” spot.  Location plates and product photography were also produced and directed by Aperture.  Voice over, sound design and final mix were all provided by Audio Post|Maja Media.
